Welcome to the Adriatic, a corporate brief on geopolitics, business, and living in Europe’s south-east region. The brief is the extended arm of the Institute for Strategic Solutions (ISR). For those readers familiar with ISR’s prior publications, our subjects will come as no surprise: we will endeavour to bring the latest news, analysis and facts from the region to ex-pat and local community in Slovenia and the Western Balkans as well as to those with particular interest in this part of the world.

Corporate brief on geopolitics, business, and living in Europe's south-east region

The name itself divulges the geographical area we cover: countries along the Adriatic coast that used to be part of former Yugoslavia. Over the course of the last 27 years each of those countries has established itself as an independent entity. But, in many ways, all are still connected not just by the common past but by the present challenges and interests, from geographical to cultural; and political to business.

The Adriatic is based in Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, but our focus will include the politics and living in other regional centres of power: Zagreb, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Skopje and Podgorica. Our expert analysis of political and financial developments will help our readers understand how various aspects impact investments as well as every-day living in southeast Europe. Our coverage will also bring closer the understanding of how what happens in Zagreb might influence developments in Belgrade.

Last but not least, our readers can learn who’s what and who’s not from a range of regional industries. We cover the latest trends from tech to culinary wizards; from fashion to latest lifestyle fads and much more. The ex-pat communities can make the most of the tips we share for things to do during those after work hours.

Everything we publish is to help our readers get a better understanding of developments in this part of the world so that they can make informed business as well as lifestyle decisions.
